We purchased this for our first floor powder room, which doesn't have a fan. We wanted something to provide privacy and mask sound during Thanksgiving when we had a full house. The two white noise features were a little too loud and annoying, so we adjusted the volume to a more tolerable level and had to keep the door closed even when the bathroom wasn't in use. Overall, it definitely served its purpose!

Ceiling projection in dark room

The noise machine's soundtrack and volume can be adjusted, but be aware that there is a light on top that cannot be turned off. It can be covered with a phone or tape, but if left uncovered, it will project a circle of light on the ceiling in a dark room. It bothered me until I covered it because I can't sleep with much light.
