My Riptunes white noise machine is a favorite of mine, so much so that I purchased a second one to use while traveling. I do wish it were a bit smaller for portability. While it generally performs well, I have experienced sporadic pauses lasting a few seconds which can be disruptive. It doesn't happen every night, but when it does, it interrupts my sleep. When it's functioning properly, I am quite satisfied with its performance.

Our children have grown up listening to white noise from Google's Play White Noise on mini speakers. We bring it with us when we travel for easy sleeping. The speaker is similar to a Google Home Mini, with the same texture and a coral color. It has a variety of sounds, including one that is very similar to the Google version. To access it, you press the noise sounds button above the fan button 2 or 3 times. The speaker remembers your settings, including the light settings, when unplugged and plugged back in. It can be charged with a standard USB-C charger/cable. It has timer settings for 45min, 90min, and 8hrs, but can also play continuously if the timer is not set. This brand is great for its natural fan noise, much better than the electronic ones. However, the screw comes loose easily and the fan won't turn on, just makes a revving noise. I've had to fix it myself multiple times by tightening the screws, but they keep coming loose. I ended up buying a longer screw at Home Depot. If it didn't have this issue, I would have given it 5 stars.

I purchased a white noise machine for my husband and it works very well. It's simple to use, with just a play button to start. This is our second time purchasing this white noise machine. Our first one lasted for years, but eventually stopped working earlier this year. Unfortunately, the second one stopped working a few days after we received it, but we were able to easily exchange it. The replacement they sent is working well and has been in use for 2 months. It produces a consistent noise similar to a fan blowing, which is great for keeping a steady sound to help with sleep. The older model had a two-speed control, but I only used one setting, so I opted for the single speed option this time. You can also adjust the tone by twisting the machine slightly. We have purchased a lot of these and are about to order more. Placing 2 or 3 of them strategically around the bed creates a peaceful bubble of noise-filtering. I have been able to sleep through road work, construction, and a neighbor's noisy dog. My partner works nights, so daytime sleep used to be especially difficult. We have also placed them in the rooms where our dogs sleep and they no longer react to neighborhood sounds. If you live in a busy area, these are a necessity. They are also easy to take with you when traveling, I have even brought one to the hospital. I often recommend these to others.

I used a phone app to measure the ambient volume of the room from about six inches away. The ambient volume was 48.35dB and with the machine turned on, it was 64.35dB. This results in a 16dB increase with the machine at full volume. Overall, the machine is quieter than expected at full volume compared to my phone. I purchased this product because my upstairs neighbors make a lot of noise and it's hard for me to sleep. I first discovered it when staying with family and found it to be very effective at drowning out the sound of creaking floors and people moving around. After getting one for myself, I've found that it has significantly reduced the noise from upstairs and helped me fall asleep quickly. This new model has a major design flaw - its feet vibrate loudly on hard surfaces, causing it to move around and potentially fall off shelves. In comparison, my older model from a different company does not have this issue. I had to place foam padding underneath it to prevent the vibrations. It does seem quieter than my old model and has a similar adjustable dome, but I may end up returning it.

I have become dependent on apps and devices to help me sleep, and I have tried many different sounds to find the perfect one. My current favorite is the airplane sound on my phone, but there are times when I don't want to use my phone overnight.
