This machine is great for providing white noise to help me sleep. In the warmer weather, my oscillating fan does the trick, but this machine is perfect for when it's cooler. I'm really happy with it - it's simple, doesn't look out of place in the bedroom, and has a nice, gentle whirring sound that can be adjusted from soft to loud with a simple twist of the top.

It has adjustable volume and 4 buttons with different nature sounds and lullabies. It's been very helpful in calming my baby. I believe it would be beneficial for any baby, not just those in the NICU.

I previously purchased this and it worked well, as another reviewer mentioned. However, when I used it in Spain, it started smelling like it was on fire. I had never had any issues with it before when traveling to other countries with the same outlets, such as in Central America. When I took it to Europe, it suddenly stopped working and smelled of smoke. I ended up buying a second one, which is now making a rattling noise. I will exchange it, but overall, I would still give it 5 stars. My previous one never made a rattling noise.
