The quality of this machine is good for the price of $29 plus shipping. However, I overlooked in the description that it only plays back and records in mono, which was disappointing as I now have to convert all my old stereo tapes to MONO mp3s. If I had noticed this earlier, I would have chosen a different product as there are many other options available. Despite being sturdy, I would not recommend this to those who want to preserve stereo sound.

The item describes a briefcase with slots for sixty cassette tapes, containing music from the sixties and seventies to newer releases. Many of the tapes are worn and cannot be played on modern devices, so it's great to have a way to convert the old music to MP3 format. One favorite cassette was played in an older car and was becoming worn out, but it was revived by converting it to MP3. The cassette player/recorder is still fully functioning and although the sound quality is not audiophile level, it is a useful and inexpensive device. I highly recommend it.

I recently had some old tapes from my late mother that I wanted to convert to digital. The quality from the cassette was not great, but after transferring it to my computer, I was able to improve some of the background noises. Overall, I'm satisfied with the results. I was so relieved to have my cassettes backed up on CD's and my laptop. I had forgotten about them for years, but when I rearranged the furniture, I found them. I had to save them because they contained precious memories of my children when they were little. The cassette player recorder worked and sounded great, and I was so happy to listen to the tapes again. In fact, I've even started recording my grandchildren with it. I'm really grateful for this player recorder.

I tried to use the Tape Player/Recorder but it ate the tapes and I couldn't tell if it was good for recording or playing. I also couldn't test the volume because it destroyed the tapes. I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't even give it one star.

This item is perfect for my needs with the cassette player aspect. While it's not great at converting to MP3, that's not a big issue for me. I would love if it could convert to other formats like WAV, as I do a lot of digital archiving work and having a portable way to digitize tapes would be fantastic. Apart from that, it does exactly what I needed it to do.

Starting the transfer from a cassette tape to a USB can be a bit challenging, as there is a delay of 10-15 seconds at the beginning. You have to repeatedly push the button and hold it until the transfer starts. However, once it gets going, it works well and the sound quality is very good. Some of my thinner C-90 tapes started to get eaten, but I don't think that's the fault of the device.

I have been using this Riptunes cassette tape to mp3 converter to transfer some old tapes and so far I have successfully transferred several hours of tapes without any issues. The digital quality is good and the device itself is very well built. I had previously tried a smaller ezcap model which broke after a few hours of use, but this Riptunes model is much better in terms of build quality.

I was hesitant to buy another converter after having trouble with a previous one from Sharper Image. The USB drive provided didn't fit the USB input, so I was a bit skeptical. However, after reading a helpful review from engineer, I decided to give it a shot since it was half the cost of the Sharper Image unit. The step-by-step lesson provided by engineer was clear and really should be included with every unit. I was able to easily convert my 9 precious ancient mix tapes in no time. Now, I can enjoy my nostalgic music anytime by opening the files in Music and using bluetooth headphones. Thank you, engineer. I'm not very tech savvy at 69, and I don't even use a smartphone.
